started watching kimi ni todoke for no apparent reason

my masculinity is hurting SO GOOD

I really hope I’m not the only one who clasped the combined feelings of wanting to laugh hysterically and cry at the same time here.

Inuyasha is an astonishingly romantic anime that deeply influenced my well-being as a child merely attempting to make the most out of his Friday nights each week. However, much that it pains me to say it, my main concern at first as a little whelp watching the anime for the first time was the main protagonist — whose name also rings as the title — Inuyasha. He possessed handsomely long hair, claws that could cut even the hardest carapace and an attitude that made him out to be just the smuggest thing alive. I loved him — I wanted to be like him — and when he obtained the Tetsusaiga, it only boosted my limitless yearn to inherit abilities like him even more. I watched every episode, every filler even! Until apparently, the last episode finally winced past… leaving what I thought was an extremely weak ending. I never knew about the manga, so you could imagine how disappointed I felt.

A few years passed and suddenly it was announced; Inuyasha: The Final Act, a continuation of where the original haul left off that would be more focused on the manga in intention of finally closing it out. Though it took me this long to actually take the time to watch the episodes in bulk, I can say without a doubt, that I was completely satisfied with what I fully glimpsed. Each episode was heightened with superb animation and terrific fight scenes — the characters were developed immensely and to turn things somber… others were killed off in the blink of an eye.

It’s been a surprising whirlwind of emotion, and Naraku has certainly earned his keep as an extremely persistent villain — someone you just couldn’t help but hate. How blasphemous that even with everything thrown at him he would still hold his caliber against the group. Miroku and Sango were forced to bear illusions of their past afflictions and Sesshomaru under went extreme stress trying to protect the one human he ever actually cared for. Inuyasha and Kagome wanted to prove their will together to witness tomorrow and attain serenity. It was a long and arduous road, but eventually Naraku was felled. His death did not seem to call towards complete peace, but through the whimsical relationship that Inuyasha and Kagome both had for each other the setting was advancing nigh glory.

I’m happy to say that I found this anime quite appeasing as it closed one of the chapters in my childhood. Watching Inuyasha progress this far has undoubtedly put a smile on my face, and seeing Miroku and Sango together also left me fluttered. Sesshoumaru, who happens to be my favorite character out of the show, still shows signs that he will not leave his thick, mysterious exterior but his pride remains unfaltered. It all ultimately deters towards Higurashi Kagome, who is now 18 and married to half-demon in Feudal Era Japan. There really is nothing I can hope more out of this renewal… and surprisingly I’m left with no questions to ask.

It’s only natural at this point that I will whisk myself to sleep, faithfully imagining the words Kaze no Kizu ringing ever so gently in my ears…
